KLAMATH/MODOC INDIAN BASKETS...CIRCA 1900 |
| The Klamath/Modoc Indians lived near the California/Oregon border in Modoc County, CA. Their basketry is made up of tule and dyed tule. Ceremonial gift baskets, gambling trays, cone-shaped burden baskets, basketry figures and hats, all make up the basketry of these Indians. They made use of dyed porcupine quills, yarn, and glass beads. Twined baskets, like these, were their specialty. |
