Great
Horned Owl This is a Groveland owl. It was found dead and saved in cold storage by Regina and Rob Hirsch of Mountain Sage Nursery. Come and see it at the museum. It's mounted on the west wall above the Native Plants display. Thank you, Rob and Regina! Harold Basey describes this owl as a large, yellow-eyed owl with "horns." It is more often heard than seen. Its voice is a series of hoots, often given between two different owls - male and female. Old timers called this owl a hoot owl. It is common in the Groveland area all year round.
