Laveroni Sawmill Display

Come and be welcomed back to the 1940s. You will be able to watch and listen as the 1/20th scale model of the Laveroni Sawmill recreates the step-by-step process of converting medium-sized pine logs into rough-cut dimensional lumber.

Stu Heller of Twain Harte, who built our model of the Longfellow Stamp Mill currently exhibited at the Museum, has once again come through for us and built a replica of the Laveroni Sawmill which he modeled from a photograph Mary Laveroni shared with him.

This is a working model with sound and action. You will hear the saw blade cutting through a log as you see it turning. This sawmill was the only one in the area to be powered by twin diesel truck engines.

The funds to create this exhibit were generously donated from the Gordon Jones Memorial Fund.  We know that Gordon would be as proud as we are of this fabulous exhibit.
